ContiMotion EVO arrives in Australia

Continental’s new all-rounder arrives in Australia with a front at $189.95 and rears from $259.95, and it brings three of the German brand’s headline technologies along for the ride.

ContiMotion EVO

The new-generation ContiMotion EVO is built for sporty weekend riders who want sharper handling and stronger all-weather grip than a standard commuter tyre delivers. It is a 17-inch tubeless radial, offered in one front and three rear sizes.

That short size list covers a lot of Australian garages. Continental names the Yamaha MT-09, Honda CB650R and BMW R 12 nineT among suitable fitments, and describes the target as naked bikes, roadsters and modern classics.

Three key Continental technologies do the heavy lifting.

MultiGrip uses a single, homogeneous compound with temperature-controlled curing to vary the grip characteristics across the tyre. Softer shoulders maximise cornering grip, while a harder centre section improves wear resistance and mileage, with a smooth, continuous transition between the two.

Grip gets the headlines, but stability is what lets you use it. ZeroDegree steel-belt construction uses a 0° belt design to deliver high-speed stability, precise handling, strong structural integrity and consistent performance, even at extreme speeds.

EasyHandling delivers precise, predictable handling at low speeds, when there is little gyroscopic force to help, such as in tight hairpin bends. A specially matched front and rear contour keeps the steering neutral, so slow cornering feels intuitive, stable and easy to control.

The tread does its part when the weather turns mid-ride. Diagonal grooves channel water out to the edge of the tyre, for reliable feedback in changing conditions.

Add the four together and you get the point of the exercise: a tyre that does what you expect, at walking pace or highway speed, in the dry or the wet. Predictability is where rider confidence comes from.
