ALL-NEW ‘THREE-D’ BY EK CHAINS FOR PERFORMANCE MOTORCYCLES

The all-new 520RV and 525/530 L-Series bring EK’s cold-forged 3D technology to road riders, track day regulars and high-performance street builds.

EK Chains has been engineering precision drive chains for over a century. The Japanese manufacturer holds the distinction of being the first in the world to mass-produce a sealed motorcycle chain – a Kawasaki Z750 Four rolling out of the factory in 1974 with an EK sealed chain fitted as standard equipment.

The new 520RV and 525/530 L-Series bring the full suite of 3D manufacturing technology to the performance motorcycle segment.

The ‘3D’ in EK’s Three-D Series refers to three-dimensional cold-forging technology applied to every plate in the chain. Most drive chains are made from stamped plates – flat steel punched into shape and called done. EK’s 3D process is fundamentally different.

Cold-forging shapes steel under enormous pressure without heat, aligning the grain structure of the metal at a molecular level. The result is a plate that is stronger, lighter and more precisely formed than anything produced by a stamp press. Stronger means better tensile performance under hard acceleration. Lighter means less rotating mass. More precise means tighter tolerances across every link in the chain.

520RV Series:
The EK 520RV is a high-performance sealed chain targeting street applications up to 1,000cc. It carries 3D cold-forged plates, CRH pin treatment and chamfered edges, sealed with EK’s NX-Ring for long-life performance.

525 & 530 L Series:
For large-displacement motorcycles demanding a larger pitch chain, the EK 525/530 L-Series is built for higher torque loads and heavier-duty applications, sharing the same 3D plates, CRH pin treatment and chamfered edges with NX-Ring seals.
